We love body odor. It’s one of the most fascinatingly animal elements about us. Mothers can recognize their babies by smell, and babies likewise identify their mothers by smell from very early on. We’re even capable of identifying blood-related kin. And research continues to show the role of pheromones in mating and sexual orientation.

So, why make a deodorant? First, because not everyone loves body odor. Heck, some of us don’t even like our own body odor — and that’s totally okay. Second, deodorant is something you’re going to use as often as every day, or multiple times a day. If you’re going to literally rub a substance into your pores, you ought to know everything that’s in it — and feel good about it.
